Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate fuel consumption for a trip?

Divide the distance by your car’s economy (km/L) to get the litres used. To get the cost, multiply those litres by the fuel price. The calculator above does both for you.

How do I split the fuel between people?

Divide the total trip cost by the number of people sharing the ride. Set the “split between” control above. For an ongoing shared car, FillPal tracks every drive and fill-up and splits it automatically.

What is a good fuel consumption (km/L)?

Small petrol cars average ~14–16 km/L, SUVs ~10–12 km/L, hybrids ~20–24 km/L. Real-world figures run lower than the lab rating, especially on short city trips.

Tired of working it out every time?

FillPal does this automatically for a shared car — logging drives, fuel, and who owes whom. Get the app →
